Unnatural Causes - P.D. James - her usual level of good, which is very good. I was a little bothered by her characters attitudes to the possibly-gay person, and the person in a wheelchair, but they are probably realistic attitudes for the times (1960s).

The Android's Dream - John Scalzi - very fun, and much enjoyed. Most of the supporting characters are male; I am not sure if this is because of a conscious decision or not.
