Oooo - I love Ellis Peters. The books are better, because they're books. I prefer books to TV generally. TV is useful when there is knitting or embroidering or crocheting to be done. Books are necessary.
I never noticed Dick Francis being slashy; I like his books, and save them for comfort reading.
