And -- apropos of nothing in this entry, but others:

There is a new Thomas Lynley novel by Elizabeth George. The 'real' one, the first post the murder of Helen. There is another novel which is about the kid who did it, but I didn't read that.

This one is far too long. I keep waiting for the novel per se to begin. I'm 100 pp. into it and it still hasn't really begun. The novel's nearly 700 pp. long! Dunno if I can make it.

Love, C.

If you really want to read the one about the kid who did it, I can mail it to you. I couldn't finish it - it was filled with despair and I just *couldn't* take so many pages of it.

Some of the Lynleys really do drag on, especially when she is switching around the viewpoints and such. What a bother!

Honestly? I wasn't interested in reading the novel about the killer of Helen.

This isn't real life. This is a created universe. And thus, whereas I'm a deep admirer of The Wire for instance, to step this far outside of the Lynley AND Havers universe wouldn't work for me.

I've progressed far enough though that Havers has been given to us in tantilizing snippets ... with hopes of far more.

So ....
