complaints:
I used the cliff notes properly, which is to say, as a supplement to the book.
Of the lists of books I have read, I have not read The Da Vinci Code, Moby Dick, and War and Peace (which I have read the first 100 pages of twice). I did not choose the last option, because I have not read Carrie

I liked Moby Dick. I think I've read it five times.

But it's not for everyone. If you try it, get the Norton; no matter what you do, don't get one which has been abridged, the "silly bits about whaling" to parphrase someone, are important.

I borrowed my grandmother's copy about 20 years ago. I still haven't returned it, and she's not on earth to return it to. Someday I will get to it.

I think that a lot of the classics require a certain amount of maturity and experience from the reader, and I have deliberately put off reading some of them for that reason.
